It's a composite form I was playing around with before I started on the butterfly fishes. It's from 1999-2000, during a sleepless night while watching some forgotten cable show....I think it was a cooking show though...

Thank you and thank you so much for placing Tiburon and the Nautiloid on your favorites list. I greatly appreciate your comments, and as for a print, I'm at a loss for words :blushes: since I don't have copies of any of the pieces in my gallery

I like its hypnotical quality - and I like nautiluses a lot, so I could spend hours in watching this one - very good!

I rank the nautilus and the argonauts as two of my favorite shells, and sometimes I end up doing a series of sketches of these shells just because of the elegance of their design. Thank you very much for the :+fav:

I actually have a collection of shells, and I dearly love Nautilus and Argonaut's ones, too... although I could not really say they are my favorite, as they are ALL my favorites
I was very fond of collecting shells - then one day the fact they were all kind of skeletons struck me, and I quit - I'm against stupid animal killings for furs and stuff, and I realized all those beautiful specimen I was buying were being killed just only for the trade - so I quit
But I still love them...

Yeah, I stopped collecting shells when I realized the same thing; I guess my collection is now a memorial to the natural world :( All I do now is just look at the shells or the remains of shells cast on the beach and if one catches my fancy, I take a picture of it or do a quick sketch.

how weird - shell collectors are common, but not SO common - I never met any, actually - and two shell collectors quitting for the same reason... this is less common. what a coincidence
so, how many do you feature in your "memorial"?
Mine I don't remember exactly - it's been a long time since last time I had them counted - I guess 300 or 400, maybe - mostly small sized, luckily! but I have a giant Cassis about 40 cm., and others pretty huge, too...

I have no idea how many I really have, but I do know I have around 100 or more of the smaller shells; I just didn't get around to counting all of them. I do have one large Pacific Triton's Trumpet, about a dozen fist-sized cowries, and two nautilus shells.
